Remediant: Honorable Mention in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant

by Sam Kumarsamy, on Jul 26, 2021

We at Remediant are thrilled to be included as an honorable mention in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management report.

According to the report, “Gartner defines the privileged access management (PAM) market as a foundational security technology to protect accounts, credentials and operations that offer an elevated (“privileged”) level of access. Privileged access differs from “normal” access because it may allow security or maintenance functions, system- or application-wide configuration changes, or the bypassing of established security controls through superuser access. PAM tools control privileged access for machines (systems or applications) for internal or machine-to-machine communication, and for people who administer or configure systems and applications.” *

Remediant offers an Innovative approach that differs from the other PAM vendors

Many identity and security teams struggle to gain visibility and manage their privileged access sprawl. Organizations merge or people leave or assume new roles, and, in the process, privileged accounts are often forgotten and are not revoked. Moreover, these forgotten privileged accounts are obfuscated because they are part of many groups including nested groups. This leads to the problem of standing privileges or 24X7 admin access sprawl that is a golden opportunity for the bad actors. We see cyberattacks everyday where a compromise to just one admin account results in adversaries moving laterally within an organization with ease until they gain access to critical information.

Remediant provides dynamic visibility into your undetected, always-on, always available admin access, a violation of the principle of least privilege. With Remediant’s SecureONE agentless software, you can then remove these permanently provisioned privileged accounts with a single click of a button. You can then add back any privileged account when needed, with Just-in-Time (JIT) access and therefore enable Zero Standing Privilege (ZSP). For an added layer of security, your privileged user is now required to authenticate using MFA for access that is restricted to just the right resource for the right amount of time to complete their job. This approach eliminates standing privileges thereby reducing the attack surface and prevents lateral movement attacks in case admin credentials are compromised.

Benefits:

  • Agentless, automated and dynamic visibility into 24X7 admin access sprawl across Windows, Linux and Mac systems (Scan 10,000 endpoints in approximately 25-30 mins)

  • Save time and resources with simple deployment: No need to install and configure intrusive agents on every endpoint or system

  • Minimize your attack surface and risk exposure with a one-click removal of undetected and unnecessary 24X7 privileged accounts sprawl

  • Prevent lateral movement attacks such as ransomware and implement Zero Trust security by enabling JIT access to privileged accounts with MFA

  • Complement traditional PAM vendor (Cyber Ark, ThycoticCentrify and Beyond Trust) implementations by discovering and reducing 24X7 admin access sprawl that exist outside the vault

Solving a perennial PAM Problem

For years, organizations have struggled to quickly and cost-effectively obtain visibility into and solve their privileged access sprawl leading to breaches. Remediant was founded in 2016 to solve this problem. Without a comprehensive, dynamic inventory of all known and hidden privileged access sprawl, identity and security teams can’t manage and secure what they don’t know about.

Over the past 5 years, we’ve been laser-focused on addressing this problem. With the feedback of our customers, we’ve expanded our SecureONE platform to build integrations with several complementary solutions such as EDR, SIEM, help desk and cybersecurity asset management to provide context around nefarious activities during privileged access and automate response and remediation.

With many customers now using our SecureONE platform it comes as no surprise that Remediant is recognized as Honorable Mention in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Privileged Access Management
